Nutritional general guestions

What human foods can dogs eat safely?

Many everyday foods can be safely enjoyed by dogs in moderation, including cooked chicken, turkey, salmon, eggs, carrots, blueberries, apples (without seeds), pumpkin, and plain rice. These foods can provide natural vitamins, minerals, and healthy nutrients when added appropriately to a balanced diet. However, some human foods are toxic to dogs, including chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, alcohol, and xylitol sweeteners. Always introduce new foods gradually and check that they are safe and suitable for your dog before feeding.

What should I look for in healthy dog treats?

Look for natural ingredients, high-quality protein sources, and treats free from unnecessary artificial additives, fillers, and preservatives. Single-protein treats can also be helpful for dogs with sensitivities.

What can I add to an 80/10/10 raw diet?

An 80/10/10 raw diet is typically made up of 80% muscle meat, 10% bone, and 10% organ meat, but many owners choose to add natural extras to help provide variety, enrichment, and additional nutrients. Popular additions can include oily fish for omega 3, green lipped mussel powder for joint support, bone broth for hydration, raw eggs, dog-safe vegetables, berries, or natural supplements tailored to your dog’s needs. Always introduce new foods gradually and ensure the diet remains balanced for your dog’s age, size, and activity level.
